Nancy Rodman is a very important part of Rodman Stables. While
she doesn't feel she needs an official "title," Yvonne thinks of her as the Barn Manager because she is in
charge of many barn management related areas. Nancy oversees the stall cleaning workers, making sure that stalls are cleaned
and bedded to our strict standards every day. She also calculates bedding and feed intake on a weekly basis to make
sure we have what we need, and mentally tracks how much we use on average. Feed management is a huge part of her responsibility,
and she calculates and weighs feed that is given to the horses each day, morning and night. She had a sharp eye for noticing
"body condition" of the horses and helps decide when to increase, decrease, or change types of feed for each horse's
needs. She has our hay analyzed yearly and works with Dr.
Holly Troche, D.V.M. (nutrition specialist) frequently with a feed calculator to figure out what our horses are
TRULY getting...not just reading feed labels.
Aside from those things, Nancy has extensive experience with ground
work, and has much knowledge about roundpen work and ground manners/respect with horses. Her skills are used daily to help
keep our horses bahavior in check. Nancy also helps keep the horses and barns clean and organized, and helps with barn shopping
as needed.
Nancy is currently enjoying learning more about the Morgan breed with her recent purchase of Spirit
of Benefactor, a western pleasure Morgan. She plans to show locally during the summers while helping Yvonne at shows.
Our current clients know that Nancy works side by side with Yvonne on a daily basis. Rodman Stables could not exist with her!
Thanks
for all you do, Mom!
By the way, all the flowers shown are grown and maintained by Nancy. A long-time gardener, she
plans/designs all the landscaping done around the farm.
